An organized and coordinated system of internal and external communication is a critical component of any emergency operations plan. In an effort to establish a reliable, interoperable and redundant communication system, the partnership has developed a joint communications plan; integrated the partnership with communication systems throughout the National Capital Region through utilization of both 800MHZ and 340-380MHZ radios, and linked with the Hospital Mutual Aide Radio System (HMARS) for communication interoperability with the District of Columbia. Despite these improvements, communication remains the single largest challenge of any organization during emergency situations.
