The Bethesda Medical Libraries Emergency Preparedness Partnership (Bethesda partnership) represents the cooperative efforts of five medical libraries located in Bethesda, Maryland: the National Naval Medical Center's Stitt Library, the Suburban Hospital Johns Hopkins Medicine Medical Library, the National Library of Medicine, the National Institutes of Health Library, and the Uniformed Services University Learning Resource Center. The purpose of the partnership is to allow partner libraries to provide continuity of operations assistance to each other in regards to library issues.

The partnership was initiated on Feb. 14th, 2008.

The Bethesda partnership is working to:

  • identify issues and challenges that may confront our region in the event of a disaster.
  • assemble resources that can be used to aid our respective institutions and the region in the event of a disaster.
  • create policies and procedures for mutual assistance and support that shall enable the continued or expanded provision of medical information to any one of our institutions in the event of a disaster.
  • provide feedback and guidance to other regional library partnerships based upon our experiences.
