Research

A critical aspect of effective disaster response is developing plans and policies that are evidence-based. To contribute to the expanding scientific knowledge base in emergency management, BHEPP is to conducting research on activities that may help improve preparedness and response. BHEPP started a program of 11 research and development initiatives in 2008. The overall BHEPP research goals are to:

• Strengthen communications interoperability
• Maintain information access during disaster
• Support responder education

The BHEPP research program focuses on four areas of investigation:

• Patient information management
• Communications during disaster response
• Information access during disaster response
• Responder preparedness training
